Getting started with resin
Epoxy resin cures to a hard, glossy, glass-clear finish that is perfect for art, jewellery, coasters and encasing keepsakes. With the right resin, a few tools and some care it is very approachable. At Föndurlist you will find resin and everything to go with it.
Measuring and mixing
Epoxy resin comes in two parts — resin and hardener — that must be measured and mixed accurately, usually by volume or weight as the maker specifies. Mix slowly and thoroughly to avoid bubbles and ensure a full, even cure.
Colour and effects
Add pigments, alcohol ink, mica powder or glitter to colour your resin. A little goes a long way. You can also embed dried flowers, photos and other keepsakes for a clear, preserved finish.
Moulds and safety
Silicone moulds release resin easily and come in countless shapes for coasters, jewellery and more. Work in a well-ventilated space, wear gloves and let pieces cure fully — curing time depends on the resin and temperature.
Frequently asked questions
Is resin hard to use for beginners?
Resin is very approachable once you measure and mix accurately. Follow the maker’s ratio, mix slowly to limit bubbles, and work in a warm, ventilated space. Starting with a small project like coasters or jewellery is a great way to learn.
How do I colour resin?
You can colour resin with dedicated pigments, alcohol ink, mica powder or glitter. Add only a small amount so you do not affect the cure. We stock resin along with inks and pigments so you can create the effects you want.
What moulds should I use?
Silicone moulds are best because resin releases from them cleanly. They come in many shapes for coasters, jewellery, trays and more. Make sure the mould is designed for resin so you get a smooth, glossy surface.
